HISTORY

Good Dance Since1984 is a contemporary dance performance company that was founded in 2012 by artistic director, Donna Crump. Good Dance since 1984 has also performed in festivals across the United States from the Boston Contemporary Dance Festival, The Dance is Made to Order Online Dance Film Festival, Alabama Dance Festival,  Southern Voices Dance Festival, The New Orleans & Houston Fringe Festivals, and Mind The Gap in Houston, Texas.

 

The company earned  its first Big Easy Tribute to The Classical Arts Award in 2013 for “Outstanding Choreography” (New Work) for its  presentation of “Isis & Nephthys”. Good Dance went on to also win another Big Easy Award, this time for "Outstanding Modern Dance Performance" in 2014 for the powerful, "Keeper of the Flame", a piece dedicated to the New Orleans Mardi Gras Indians, set to a live musical score. 

 

Good Dance Since 1984's most recent  project includes "Free Diamonds". This work was sponsored and presented by The Contemporary Arts Museum (CAM) Houston in 2020 for the opening exhibit of America, directed by award-winning director, Garrett Bradley. America  premiered at The Sundance Film Festival in 2019.
